SkinCare Tips For Monsoon + Natural Remedies

Monsoon is one season when my skin behaves totally errant. High humidity in my city during monsoon turns my skin into an oil well and prone to zits and blackheads. As skin problems are very common during this time, I have compiled some tips and techniques to help you keep your skin under check.
  1. Keep your skin clean at all times. Skin becomes a magnet for dirt and grime because of damp weather. Wash face with mild face wash 2-3 times a day
  2. Do not use oil or cream based makeup in this season as these will clog pores and cause acne. Also your face will look ghastly if your heavy foundation gets washed in rain water leaving uneven patches.
  3. Use a light water based moisturizer. Even though skin feels damp for most of the time in monsoon, it still is a good idea to use a light moisturizer during day and night as well. You can mix your moisturizer with sunscreen during day to save time (this is what I do thanks to my laziness) or just apply it beneath your sunscreen.
  4. Do not skip sunscreen even if it’s cloudy outside. Use sunscreen when you are indoors as well. And reapply it every 3 hours. Using a sunscreen regularly will prevent your skin from aging quicker (my mum was told this by a dermatologist so there has to be some science there)
  5. Remove all traces of makeup before going to bed
  6. Deep clean and use a gentle scrub at least, once a week.
  7. Be regular for clean ups and facials.
  8. Follow that CTM routine religiously.
For those who like to pamper their skin a li’l more than others, here are some natural remedies that surely work for me
  • ·         Mix gram powder with yogurt, apply on face and leave it to dry. Remove this by gently rubbing your skin with dry hands (do not use water) . The mixture will start flaking at this point. This is important, since it not only removes impurities from skin but also removes any unwanted facial hair naturally. You can splash face with water at the end to remove any last bits.
  • ·         Mix 1 part apple cider vinegar with 2 parts water, dab on face with a cotton ball. This acts as a natural toner. Using apple cider vinegar in your bath water will also prevent fungal infections during monsoon.
  • ·         Soak oatmeal in warm water and use this as a natural scrub for skin. Gentle yet effective way to clear and glowing skin.
  • ·         To remove tan from face, massage face with papaya pulp for few minutes and wash off with cool water.
Hope these tips will help you to keep glowing in the rainy season.
